National Handloom Day
Celebrating the craftsmanship of handloom weavers of India, the National Handloom Day was celebrated by organizing a Symposium on 7th August by the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) under the aegis of the Ministry of Textiles at the Crafts Museum, Delhi to highlight and raise awareness on the handloom sector and to take necessary steps to uplift the industry.
Safir Anand as a part of the FDCI Board of Governors participated in supporting the hashtag HandloomEveryday, engaged in vibrant discussions concentrating on handloom and the environment, deliberations on the reduction of taxes on handloom products, preserving handloom as monuments, and much more aimed at making handloom a part of our daily lives.
Anand and Anand has taken pioneering initiatives for uplifting textile industry including the protection of Khaki and Woolmark, working alongside Nobel Peace Laureate Kailash Satyarthi for Goodweave International, Rugmark, which is a network of non-profit organizations dedicated to ending child labour. Also, the firm has been instrumental in registering exclusivity of various Geographical Indications pertaining to the textiles including Mangalagiri, Narayanpet and Dharmavaram.
